Gary Garrison

Assistant Coach Hurdles/Sprints/Jumps

Coach Gary Garrison continues his passion of working with young people in the sport of track and field.  He is entering his 47^th year of coaching of which 34 have been at SJO and 10 at Mahomet-Seymour High School.   He currently coaches sprinters, hurdlers, and high jumpers.  Some of his coaching highlights include working with several thousand area youth and seeing them mature into productive citizens.  He has coached 3 national age group champions (2 in the hurdles and 1 in the 400).   He organized and coached the Champaign Track Club for 14 years and recently coached for the Illini Heat Track Club.   He has spoken at several track clinics and has lead hurdling camps at EIU, U of I, and Carlinville.   SJO teams under his direction won IHSA STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS in 1993 and 2000.  Coach Garrison was inducted into the Illinois Track and Cross Country Coaches Hall of Fame in 2010.
